Comment: “Come on, plenty of trees around for wildlife..."
Response: thankyou for your comments, as – [with no offence meant to your person] - it highlights the great deal of misunderstanding in the community in regards to the natural environment and the aim of this petition to save and protect the ENDANGERED SHALE WOODLAND & OTHER EEC IN BUNDANOON and the state in general, and in doing so, LIMIT AND TEMPER THE HIGHLY DESTRUCTIVE OVER DEVELOPMENT which is already responsible for great distress for some here in Bundanoon – AND MORE WILL FOLLOW WITHOUT IMMEDIATE ACTION.
Sadly, with so little education in the general populace regards science and ecology, and planetary systems, it is understandable that persons would make comments demonstrating such limited understanding of the need to protect and nurture the natural environment for the well-being of all. Sadly, this same lack of knowledge and understanding is key to the easy abandonment of responsibility for the environment by governments, and facilitation of profit for a few at the expense of the health of the planet for all, and even the destruction by individuals which collectively results in huge levels of environmental damage. This is why one of the petition requests is for better education re ecology, and the better informing of residents of tree protection laws etc. and that this EEC exists, and why it needs to be protected.
It is never too late to learn new things, and I encourage you to visit the website where the purpose for this petition is set out in detail. There is also a myriad places on the internet and in libraries to obtain good and accurate information regards the environment, not the ‘dismissive of the scientists’ stuff on propaganda sites, and fueled by the general poor education in such matters that is so prevalent in modern human society, that has removed itself from the responsibility of preserving the planet in good condition for future generations.
Proper research will reveal that wildlife in Australia is struggling and in serious decline due to the encroachment of human habitation and practices. This can be changed. Development styles can be changed to do a better job of sparing good areas as reserves, and help both the retention of species, and make lovely places for people to enjoy.
Why should those who want to destroy and cut down all this endangered woodland be able to do so and spoil the planet for those who understand the importance of protecting it, and for future generations to be able to enjoy the beautiful creatures of creation? So I urge you and others of similar opinions based on this misunderstanding of ecology etc., to do some serious research – who knows – you may become so enlightened you become a wildlife and habitat warrior and do a great deal of good, not just for Bundanoon now, but into the future. Its time to throw away the old bad colonial attitudes of yesteryear, and do positive things to protect the natural world – and time is running out, so please take some time to have a serious think - everyone!
