Wingecarribee Shire Community 2031 Strategic Plan
3.4.3 Provide for higher density development within the towns of Mittagong, Bowral, Moss Vale and Bundanoon
4.1.1 Conserve ..., key wildlife corridors, vegetation ... [? see below]
4.1.2 Maintain and enhance biodiversity. [? see below]
4.1.3 Ensure no net loss of the natural resources of the Shire by replacement and/or offset of the unavoidable loss of trees, vegetation and other resources using an effective and transparent offset formula. [? see below]

Regards the above Plan: for the [sound good on the surface] protection clauses there are carefully worded loopholes, just as in the current DCP’s of this shire, which allow for almost total denudation [including endangered ecology] and copycat of existing developments – many of which have been detrimental.
Higher density – leads to ever smaller lots [no minimum sizes]; double [or more] storey; myriad lot developments disregarding existing residents [eg 50 Erith St., Rochester Estate, and worse to come]. Every Lot sale – a potential multi dwelling.
There are many proposed and current developments causing distress here in Bundanoon and the shire. Development already exists in Bundanoon that provides a precedent for the continuation of high density development, much of which has destroyed the endangered woodland ecology, which would have served to temper these developments, save for the ease of disparaging its value to evade EEC protective legislation, [also rarely applied to illegal clearing].
Only a hop, skip and jump for high density development to hit the other villages.
Key wildlife corridors – is a loose term, that can effectively rule out most, if not all pockets and corridors of the remaining endangered woodland, which in turn will facilitate the high density development planned for the Southern Highlands inclusive of Bundanoon. Already the destruction of this endangered woodland is spelling disaster for the area, both aesthetically and in ecological biodiversity. [eg Blue Gum Estate – where a great opportunity to retain a good reserve was bypassed by bad planning etc.] Destruction of endangered woodland and significant exotics = easy high density development. Answer: demand real protection for endangered ecology.
“no net loss” means anything up to just shy of 100% denudation.
You can’t maintain and enhance biodiversity while removing habitat trees [hollows] and large scale removal of all storey levels of an ecology.
Mature to 100 plus year old trees cannot be replaced with any ‘offset formula’ as tube stock cannot provide habitat [or climate offsets] of equal value for decades to centuries, when the biodiversity unique to this area will be long gone.

Don’t let more of Bundanoon’s Natural Heritage and Unique Country Village atmosphere, and Tourism be destroyed.
Don't let the fattening of the pockets of a few be the death knell of true 'aussie' flora and fauna.
Demand innovative planning to encompass genuine protection of 'aussie' habitat, to combat climate change, not the loose use of 'sustainable' labels on destructive clear fell developments.
Please put apathy aside and join the noise.
